About the Artist

Michael Gillette has spent the last 25 years using the energy of Rock’n'Roll to inspire uplifting art”. *wallpaper

Born and raised in Swansea, Wales, I spent my teens infatuated with art and music.
After studying at Kingston, I graduated to make art for the emerging Britpop scene in London, including video and sleeve work for Elastica and Saint Etienne. The 1990s were spent honing my painting skills, before becoming an early pioneer of digital image making. In 2001, I moved to San Francisco to continue the creative adventure.

My ability to translate the excitement of popular culture into engaging art has attracted collaborations with some all-time greats including animation projects with The Beastie Boys and My Morning Jacket, through to portrait work for Beck and Paul McCartney and a highly collectable set of James Bond covers for Penguin.

In 2016 my music themed monograph DRAWN IN STEREO was published by AMMO in Los Angeles.

2020 saw the release of PACK OF DOGS, published by FOUR & SONS in Barcelona
